HOW TO ADD EXTERNAL THEMES TO YOUR BLOG

Morning Folks,
I'm pretty sure that with the way things are going on now - I mean with the dawning of this internet era many of us have our personal blog where we post things that interest us: varying from photography, video review, apps, music, videos and many things that is of interest to us.

Many of us are tired - or should I say sick - of the default themes from the famous WordPress, Blogger and the likes..... with themes tagged Contempo, Soho, Emporio: to mention but few: are now looking gross as I would like to put it and many of us want to change the way things look and feel as the saying goes "change is constant" so everyone wants to change the look of their website or blog: whatever you wish to call it.

This article will teach you how to do just what was afore mentioned.

Let's Get StarteD!

Note: I'll be discussing about blogger because 80% of new website builders are making use of it as per my survey.

There are 11 defaulted themes in the blogger(some also called it BLOGSPOT) it is still the same one these default themes can be changed anytime: many people are tired of using the same default theme - interchangeably not knowing that their options is not limited to those 11 themes only, but as always there's always a back up for something no matter how bad that thing may seems. These are just the steps you can carry out to ensure you're using any template of your choice.

PART 1 OF 2

First of all you have to head over to this website Templatesyard

Then you click on anyone you wish to use (after clicking you can scroll down to see a button on previewing it before you download the file) after clicking on the one you, scroll down to the download options now note for 90-95% of the themes on this website there are free version for them and also paid versions too: so you'll click on the download free version as seen below.

After download open the file with any file manager that can unzip a zipped file because the file is going to be in a zip format: file manager like Z Archiver, Es File Explorer, Files by Google and many more - I strongly recommend "Es File Explorer".

After going to the file location with Es File Explorer, long press the file, then click on the three vertical dots laying at the bottom right corner of the interface and click on "EXTRACT HERE"

After Extraction take note of where you extract it to and see if one of the files from the Extraction has an extension of ".xml" because you'll be needing that only.

PART 2 OF 2

Now head over to your website editing page and open the side bar, then click on the "THEMES" option .like in the picture below .

After opening the theme option you'll see another page like the one above..

Click on the three vertical dots at the right hand side of the interface and something like this(see below image)will pop up.

Then click on the "RESTORE" option another overlay will show this (see below image).

Then click the upload button: you'll be promoted to go to your download page, now go to where you extracted the files and click on the one ending with the ".xml" extension and you'll see a pop up saying "Restoring theme" after the theme has been successfully uploaded you'll see another pop up saying "Restore Completed" voila you've added a new: third party/external theme to your website/blog ..

You can tweak the layout, looks to your satisfaction in "Layout"....
