Cats in Nigeria 1

Image
Source: Cats & kitten local.ng As a feline advocate, I fancy cats with no exceptions. From their endearing and somewhat googly eyes, their cleanliness to their sometimes aloof attitude. Where I am from, a lot of folks detest this furry animal. If you hate cats first ask yourself why you detest them so much, is it societal belief, or do you just hate them out of nowhere? In the three major tribes of Nigeria, there is a dislike of cats due to some beliefs about them being used as a sort of channel by an evil spirit, therefore, making them demonize cats in general. From my conversations with some elderly, I discovered that the major misconception is the association of cats with the evil spiri...

Two giant pythons crashed through the ceiling of a house while mating on the roof. The owners of the house, who reside in Cairns, Australia, were horrified to watch the giant snakes tumbling down from the roof while still intertwined. They called local snake catchers to help them remove the breeding pair, Daily Mail Australia reports. The mating pythons had managed to hide under the roof of the couple’s house in Australia’s Cairns, but they soon caused a crack in the ceiling due to their energetic activity, much to the horror of the family living inside. Said the snake catchers, “A Whiterock couple were shocked to see their ceiling flex and crack under the weight of these 4-5m Amethystine pythons, also referred to as scrub pythons. “Extracting this dynamic duo was no ...

Bruce the bald eagle stares down photographer Steve Biro A Canadian amateur photographer says he is “overwhelmed” by the worldwide response to a photograph he took of a bald eagle. Steve Biro snapped the image of Bruce the bald eagle at the Canadian Raptor Conservancy and first posted it on some Facebook photography groups. The image of the bird of prey “staring daggers” at the photographer with its piercing eyes has since gone viral. The photo is one of several hundred Mr Biro took of the bird that day. “He’s squared up perfectly, both wings are touching the water,” he told the BBC. “That [photograph] was the one that struck me as as little more special than the others. But I still didn’t even know how it would resonate with people. The photograph eventually made it to the front page of Reddit and has since been picked up by media around the world. Birds are usually undisturbed by photographers visiting the Canadian Raptor Conservancy in Ontario. But Mr Biro say...
