We've known for a while now that Power's sixth season will be its last, but now it's come to light that the producers are trying something different as the show bows out.

As reported by TheWrap, it was announced at the Television Critics' Association press tour that the final season will consist of a 10-episode first part beginning on August 25, while the final five episodes will begin in early January.

As well as the two-part split, it was revealed that Power will be getting an aftershow called Power Confidential that will air after every episode of the final season.

Power's divisive fifth season wrapped up with a knockout finale that left the fate of one major character up in the air, and the official synopsis for season 6 confirms that the series will pick up with Ghost seeking vengeance following the "ultimate betrayal".

Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson, who played Kanan Stark and executive produces the series, will also be directing his first episode of the show, having previously helmed the Before I Self Destruct Movie that accompanied his album of the same name in 2009.

50 has previously stated that there are up to four Power spin-offs in the works, and it's been confirmed that Mary J Blige will definitely be starring in one of them.

Power returns to Starz in the US on August 25. Netflix airs the show in the UK.
